Stan Murdock Interview 2-8-07
I grew up right next door to the Skinners (at 207 N Franklin). I was between Quentin and Ole in age. Courtney and I were friends. Clem was fairly interesting. The boys got their work ethic from their mom (Vi) and their adventure ethic from their dad (Clem).
Clem was a helluva dragline operator. That’s a sort of steam shovel with a boom. He built a lot of ditches with a dragline. Clem always helped the kids. He was always a gentleman. He had faults like everyone, but he had a hell of a lot more good than bad…by a large margin.
Clem bought a ‘Weasel’. That’s a track vehicle, all terrain. It would go in the snow. He had a WWII half-track truck too. He took that Weasel up to the ski area and did a lot of work on the ski hill. He might have been a WWI vet. I don’t know. Clem’s dog was named ‘Sarge”. It was a Norwegian Elkhound. Clem was always in Rendezvous. Clem liked occasions.
